Mathew practices as a Barrister in Hobart specialising in Workers Compensation, Personal Injury, Medical Defence, Professional Indemnity, Inquests and CTP claims.

Prior to joining the Bar, Mathew spent almost 38 years as a litigator at Page Seager Lawyers, the last 30 of those as a Partner. Mathew led a large team of lawyers for the last 15 years of his time at Page Seager acting for Employers Indemnity Insurers. Professional and Public Liability Insurers, CTP insurers and MDO’s.

Mathew has extensive advocacy experience in the Supreme Court both at first instance and appeal, including the Full Court. He has also appeared as counsel in the Federal Court and the High Court in its original jurisdiction. He has appeared countless times in TASCAT and its predecessors at trial and conciliations. Mathew has been a teacher of advocacy and continues to provide guidance and mentoring to younger practitioners.
